Free-swinging UFC and WEC veteran Leonard Garcia will fight for the vacant Legacy FC featherweight title on Dec. 6.
Promoter Mick Maynard told MMAjunkie.com Garcia (17-11-1) has agreed to fight Kevin Aguilar (8-0) at Legacy FC 26.
The bout is expected to headline the card, which takes place at Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio. The main card airs on AXS TV.
Garcia and Aguilar fight for a belt that was vacated by Daniel Pineda when he signed with the UFC in early 2012.
Garcia recently concluded a 17-fight run with the UFC and WEC, where he went just 6-10-1 but won six “Fight of the Night” bonuses against some of the 145-pound division’s more notable names. The Texan then signed with Legacy FC, where he scored a head-kick knockout of Rey Trujillo in July and a submission win over Nick Gonzalez this past week.
That set him up for a title shot with Aguilar, a former Bellator fighter who’s 8-0 since his pro debut in late 2010. Since signing with Legacy FC, the Texan has posted a decision victory over Gonzalez and a submission win over Hunter Tucker. Seven of his eight career wins have come via stoppage.
