Gracie Breakdown Video: Explaining Ronda Rousey’s Keen Defense of the Choke

In UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey‘s first defense of her belt, against Liz Carmouche at UFC 157 last year, Carmouche put Rousey in all kinds of trouble by taking her back and applying a rear naked choke.

While that could have spelled the end of Rousey’s jump into the superstar stratosphere before it even began, the champ’s keen understanding of how to break the hold and set up another armbar victory was nothing short of impressive.

On an episode of UFC Ultimate Insider jiu-Jitsu experts Rener and Ryron Gracie illuminated Rousey’s first UFC title defense as she stopped the offensive attack of Carmouche in their Gracie Breakdown.

Rousey next sets foot in the Octagon at UFC 170 on Saturday to put her belt on the line for the third time when she meets fellow Olympian Sara McMann in the night’s main event.
