Eduard Folayang to Face Kotetsu Boku in ONE FC: Rise of Heroes Co-Main Event

Eduard FolayangThree more fights were added to the card of ONE FC: Rise of Heroes this week with Filipino fan-favorite Eduard Folayang slated to take on former lightweight champion Kotetsu Boku in the co-main event.

Folayang (13-4) headlined the inaugural ONE FC event and remains one of the organization’s most marketable stars. He will be looking for a second successive win when he takes on Boku (21-9-2), who stopped Arnaud Lepont in Kuala Lumpur only last month.

Folayang’s Team Lakay teammate Rey Docyogen will also be back in action after a year away from the sport spent completing his architectural qualifications. He is taking on Guam’s Joshua Alvarez, who is dropping down a division having spent most of his career competing at bantamweight.

Docyogen (10-2) will be looking for his first ONE FC win after suffering defeats at the hands of Shinichi Kojima and Yasuhuiro Urushitano, while Alvarez (12-6) saw a five-fight winning streak snapped by a loss to Koetsu Okazaki on his promotional debut.

The third fight to be announced by the Singapore headquartered promotion on Wednesday is an intriguing middleweight match-up between two of the frontrunners for the title. Undefeated Leandro Ataides will be taking Dream and K-1 veteran Tatsuya Mizuno.

Ataides (6-0) scored a very impressive first-round knockout win over Bryan Rafiq on his ONE FC debut, while Mizuno (12-9) recently dropped down to 185 pounds after fighting at light heavyweight and even heavyweight, defeating Rafael Silva by unanimous decision.

So far nine fights have been confirmed for the ONE FC: Rise of Heroes card, which takes place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on May 2 and will be headlined by a bantamweight title bout between Bibiano Fernandes and Masakatus Ueda.
