UFC officials Monday announced that the Swedish Mixed Martial Arts Federation rejected a proposed matchup between longtime Octagon veteran Siver and French newcomer Taylor Lapilus, who was set to replace Robert Whiteford on two weeks’ notice.
“The Swedish Mixed Martial Arts Federation ruled that Lapilus, fighting out of Paris, France, was not a suitable opponent for Siver,” read a statement issued by the UFC.
Instead, Siver will square off against unbeaten Charles Rosa on Saturday at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm.
Massachusetts native Rosa, 28, sports a perfect 9-0 record as a professional and fights out of American Top Team in Boynton Beach, Fla. He last competed Aug. 8 under the banner of Rhode Island-based promotion Classic Entertainment and Sports, submitting Jake Constant via first-round armbar.
