Officials today announced that the final of the Season 9 heavyweight tournament will take place at Bellator 106 as former UFC fighter Cheick Kongo takes on Brazilian slugger Vinicius Queiroz.

Bellator 106 takes place Bellator Nov. 2 at Long Beach Arena in California. Former UFC champs and Bellator newcomers Quinton Jackson and Tito Ortiz headline the show, which also features three title fights.

“To be able to put on a card of this caliber for our first pay-per-view is something really special,” Bellator CEO and Chairman Bjorn Rebney stated. “Kongo vs. ‘Spartan’ should be absolute fireworks and will be a fantastic way to kick off what should be a historic night on Nov. 2 from the Long Beach Arena.”

Kongo, who’s ranked No. 15 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie.com MMA heavyweight rankings, recently fought for the first time since his UFC release and advanced to the tourney final with a second-round TKO of Mark Godbeer at Bellator 102. It moved the Frenchman to 5-2-1 in his past eight fights and marked his 11th knockout in 19 career wins.

Queiroz, who fought once under the UFC banner, is now 2-1 with Bellator following a quick 23-second knockout of Lavar Johnson at Bellator 102. Queiroz, whose lone Bellator loss came to now-champ Alexander Volkov, has six knockouts in seven career wins.

The Kongo vs. “Spartan” winner earns a title shot.

The latest Bellator 106 card now includes:

MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view)
