Castillo-Bailey Lightweight Matchup Completes UFC 139 Card

The UFC announced Tuesday that lightweights Shamar Bailey and Danny Castillo will lock horns at UFC 139, bringing the total number of fights confirmed for the Nov. 19 event to 12.
UFC 139 will emanate from HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., the former longtime home of Strikeforce. A pair of onetime Pride Fighting Championships stars will headline the show, as former two-division champion Dan Henderson locks up with onetime UFC light heavyweight titlist Mauricio Rua.

The card will also offer feature four more former world champions. In the evening’s co main event, former Pride titlist Wanderlei Silva will lock horns with onetime Strikeforce belt-holder Cung Le. Preceding that bout will be a bantamweight scrap between ex-WEC champions Urijah Faber and Brian Bowles.

Following a stint on “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 13, Bailey made his official UFC debut at the season finale, earning a unanimous decision win over fellow cast member Ryan McGillivray to snap a two-fight losing skid. Most recently, the two-time Strikeforce vet was out-boxed by well-rounded southpaw Evan Dunham at UFC Fight Night 25, dropping a unanimous decision on Sept. 17.

Castillo (Pictured) recently had a three-fight winning streak snapped by fellow wrestler Jacob Volkmann at UFC Live 5 on Aug. 14. Prior to that defeat, the Team Alpha Male representative had rattled off wins over Dustin Poirier, Will Kerr and Joe Stevenson. An eight-time WEC veteran, the 32-year-old posted a 6-2 record in that promotion before making his successful UFC debut against Stevenson in March.
