Bethe Correia on UFC champ Ronda Rousey: 'I wouldn't joke about' the things she does

The bad blood between UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Bethe Correia hasn’t subsided despite their recent fight.

Correia (9-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC), who suffered a 34-second knockout loss to Rousey (12-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) on Aug. 1 in UFC 190’s pay-per-view headliner, today called out the champion.

The duo’s beef seem settled once UFC 190 concluded with the champ’s dominant victory. “Rowdy” said as much after the event:

However, Rousey and Correia are still generating headlines a few weeks after the event. More recently, it was one of Rousey’s mentors, “Judo” Gene LeBell, who sparked the latest round of back-and-forth after saying the champ told him, “I wasn’t through. I wanted to break something, an arm or a leg or neck.”

Correia took notice of the comments after Combate picked up MMAFighting.com‘s story with the comments. Correia said she would never joke about such things.

The full message (via Instagram):

I was extremely criticized and judged by lack of respect due to a bad interpretation of the current champ. All that time I saw the real face of the current champ trying to pose as a saint while she always said publicly that she wanted to make me "have a meeting with Jesus" which was her true intention. The media never gave that much coverage. I'd never would fight anyone with the intention to kill, break their neck which is something there's no return from. I wouldn't joke about it, because wanting to kill someone is not caring about the pain their family would feel! So I tell @rondarousey I'm here and I'll fight for a rematch in 2016, stronger, more mature, we'll see each other again! I wanted to fight you and I got it. I'll get that chance again and I'll have my revenge at the right time! .

With the recent drubbing, Correia has a lot of work to do to get back to a title shot. Two-time Rousey opponent Miesha Tate is up next, and 135-pounders such as Holly Holm, Amanda Nunes and Julianna Pena are working their way up. Additionally, there’s always the possibility of a bout with rival and reigning Invicta FC featherweight champion Cristiane Justino.

Correia, who had won her first nine pro bouts before the loss to Rousey (a 17-1 favorite), is likely going to need another substantial winning streak before getting the chance to avenge the title loss.
