In Gutierrez’s place now steps Patricia Vidonic, who dropped a unanimous decision to Herrig roughly eight months ago under Florida’s Xtreme Fighting Championships banner. MMAWeekly.com first reported the matchup on Tuesday.
Bellator 84 takes place at The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind., and will see Season 7 tournament champions crowned in both the heavyweight and lightweight divisions.
Herrig, 28, has won four of her last five, most recently outpointing Simona Soukupova this past August at XFC 19. Nearly a four-year pro, “Lil Bulldog” has gone the distance in eight of her 11 outings and has never been finished in four career setbacks.
Vidonic, 33, saw a six-fight winning streak snapped last February by Bellator standout Jessica Aguilar. Though Herrig would extend Vidonic’s skid to two fights this past April, the Oregonian rebounded from the defeat with a triumph over Invicta vet Sally Krumdiack at CageSport 20 on July 14.
