Anderson Silva fined $50,000 for no-showing at UFC 162 media event

Instead of showing up for UFC 162 media obligations, UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva got on the plane back home to Brazil. For that the fighter was fined $50,000 by the UFC.

Silva was supposed to appear on local L.A. TV and radio stations and attend a luncheon with several newspapers.

The Brazilian will headline UFC 162, defending his title against Chris Weidman on July 6 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
