For at least one event, Patricio Freire has bragging rights, and he’s making the most of it.
The Bellator featherweight champion today riled up fellow titleholder Will Brooks today during a Twitter squabble. And it’s all due to their placement on an upcoming card.
As reported earlier today, both fighters are scheduled to fight on Nov. 6 at Bellator 145, which is one of the organization’s bigger “tentpole” events on Spike TV. Champ Freire, who’s ranked No. 4 in the NOS Energy Drink MMA featherweight rankings, takes on No. 11-ranked Daniel Straus (24-6 MMA, 10-3 BMMA) in the headliner at St. Louis’ Scottrade Center. Champ and No. 14-ranked featherweight Brooks (16-1 MMA, 8-1 BMMA), meanwhile, meets Marcin Held (21-3 MMA, 10-2 BMMA) in the co-main event.

Brooks wasn’t exactly ready to take the jab in stride, and he unleashed a quick barrage of tweets with threats ranging from turning “this into something else” and slapping “you in your f-cking mouth when I see you next” (via Twitter):
Of the two brothers, Brooks has largely feuded with Patricio Freire’s brother, Bellator lightweight Patricky Freire. However, as mentioned in a May tweet, Brooks said he’ll happily take on both:
