While Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey seem the most likely candidates to next challenge new women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate, fellow fighters think a few other contender deserve consideration.
Earlier this month in UFC 196’s pay-per-view co-headliner, Tate (18-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) upset then-champ Holm (10-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) via fifth-round submission to claim the belt.
So what’s next? An immediate rematch with Holm? A third fight with ex-titleholder Rousey (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC), who has two past wins over Tate? They seem the two most likely options, according to UFC officials.
For her part, Tate wants a slot on July’s UFC 200 card, and she’s welcoming all challengers.
But when we asked their fellow fighters who should get the first title shot, some other names popped up, notably Cat Zingano (9-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) and Amanda Nunes (12-4 MMA, 5-1 UFC).
