Brad Pickett vs. Ivan Menjivar

Round 1:
Fighters touch gloves, back up, and Menjivar starts off with a leg kick. Pickett looking for a spin move, but decides against it. Pickett with a traditional stance now moves in and takes Menjivar to the ground. Both fighters quickly up, Menjivar landing a couple shots to Pickett’s body. Pickett now with a bit of swelling on the left eye lands a great body shot on Menjivar. Menjivar answers with a kick landing on Pickett’s forehead. Very quick pace to the round with both fighters exchanging strikes. Menjivar attemps a spinning back fist, but does not connect. Pickett and Menjivar now connecting on their strikes. Menjivar with another spinning back fist bringing the total to four in this round so far. This one Pickett was ready for and Pickett grabbed onto Menjivar and took him down. Fighters wrestling for last 30 seconds on the ground to end the round.

Round 2:
Fighters start off a little more conservative this round, with Pickett slugging it out with Menjivar. Menjivar answers with a straight left jab. Menjivar rocks Pickett with a solid overhand right and Pickett is in trouble. Menjivar strikes him again and again, Menjivar landing over a dozen strikes. Pickett not giving up, swinging wildly trying to answer as the fighters go to the ground. Menjivar getting Pickett in a near choke, but Pickett squirms out and takes Menjivar’s back, but cannot make anything happen. Fighter’s separate and to their feet and Menjivar punishes Pickett with more strikes to end the round.

Round 3:
Menjivar visually frustrated now, trying to determine how Pickett is still standing. Fighter’s losing steam at this point firing straight punches at each other. Pickett lands a combination and then lands another solid overhand right that rocks Menjivar. Pickett lands a flying knee, but Menjivar is still standing. Both fighters are giving it all they’ve got. Pickett lands a finger in Menjivar’s eye, but they touch gloves and don’t miss a beat. Looking to be fight of the night, the fighters both giving it all they’ve got. Blood trickling now from Menjivar’s temple. 10 seconds left and the fighters are still slugging it out to end the bout. This one is going to the judges.
