Video preview: The mess at featherweight and UFC 206's Holloway-Pettis title headliner

The UFC featherweight division is a bit of a mess, but we’ll get a little resolution next weekend with UFC 206’s title headliner.

With lightweight champ Conor McGregor recently stripped of his featherweight belt and interim champ Jose Aldo promoted to the division’s primary titleholder, Max Holloway (16-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) and Anthony Pettis (19-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC) fight for an interim belt in UFC 206’s featured attraction.

UFC 206 takes place Saturday at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Sure, it doesn’t make much sense to crown an interim champion when the division has an active titleholder – McGregor’s coach said as much – but Holloway vs. Pettis, who are respectively ranked No. 2 and No. 9 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA featherweight rankings, is a solid scrap, and now it’s got slightly heightened stakes.

Check out UFC 206’s extended video preview above as both headliners talk about the division’s recent changes and what fans can expect when they finally clash.
