Video: Watch UFC Fight Night 101's Derek Brunson smash Roan Carneiro as part of run of first-round knockouts

Derek Brunson has been on an absolute tear. With five straight wins, and seven of eight in the UFC, he’s on the verge of title contention.

On Saturday, Brunson (16-3 MMA, 7-1 UFC) headlines UFC Fight Night 101 against Robert Whittaker (16-4 MMA, 7-2 UFC) at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The event airs on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

Brunson is ranked No. 6 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA middleweight rankings; Whittaker is No. 11. He’s gotten there thanks to those five straight – the most recent four of which have come by first-round knockout. (And yet, he has no bonuses in those four wins – will someone cut this guy an extra check already?!)

As part of his current streak, Brunson took out veteran jiu-jitsu ace Roan Carneiro in the first round at UFC Fight Night 83 in Pittsburgh in February. Check out how he got it done in the video above.
