Video: Watch Andrei Arlovski's quick debut win at UFC 28

It’s time to fire up the MMA way-back machine to head back to the turn of the century.

Andrei Arlovski made his UFC debut in November 2000 at UFC 28. Back then, “Big” John McCarthy got bigger applause as a ref than did most of the fighters, Bruce Buffer didn’t quite know how to pronounce Arlovski’s home country of Belarus, and the UFC was spelling the future heavyweight champion’s last name “Orlovskiy.”

But the then 21-year-old made a fast impression in his first UFC fight when he submitted Aaron Brink with an armbar just 55 seconds into the first round. Six fights later, he became a champion.

Arlovski left the UFC in 2008, but with six wins in his past seven fights, he’s now back. Arlovski (21-10 MMA, 10-4 UFC) meets Brendan Schaub (10-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) next week at UFC 174 in Vancouver.

But before that fight, check out Arlovski’s UFC debut in the video above.
