Video: UFC on FOX 11's Travis Browne breaks down Fabricio Werdum

Travis Browne has a lot on the line this week in Florida, but he’s certainly not resting on his laurels.

The heavyweight had a huge 2013 with three straight first-round knockouts of elite competition in Gabriel Gonzaga, Alistair Overeem and Josh Barnett. That got him into Saturday’s main event at UFC on FOX 11 against Fabricio Werdum, in which the winner is expected to be the next challenge for champion Cain Velasquez.

But no way is Browne looking back on his recent run to pat himself on the back.

“The thing about this sport is, if you’re looking backward, you’re not moving forward,” Browne told MMAjunkie. “That’s in the past. It’s 2014. I’m on to the next, and I have a big fight in front of me. I’m not going to be happy until I leave a legacy. You see so many people fight for the championship, and then they just fall off. I’m not going to be that guy.”

Browne said he trained with Werdum in the past, just briefly. And though the Brazilian is well known for his prowess on the ground – he has famous submission wins over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fedor Emelianenko – Browne knows he’ll be in for tests wherever the fight goes.

“He’s a world-class athlete. He’s submitted some of the best in the game and been working on his standup diligently,” he said. “He comes from a great camp. You can’t take anything away from him. All you can say are great things about the guy.”

But Browne hopes he’ll be saying great things in victory after UFC on FOX 11, which takes place Saturday at Amway Center in Orlando, Fla. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

In the video above, hear what Browne (15-1-1 MMA, 6-1-1 UFC) has to say about his fight against Werdum (17-5-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC). Then don’t miss UFC on FOX 11 this Saturday.
