UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is featured in a new short documentary series, “Nine for IX Short,” which debuts today on espnW.com.
The online series follows the full-length and Emmy-nominated “Nine for IX” series that aired on ESPN in 2013. It focuses on female athletes, whose stories are told through the lens of female filmmakers.
One new online short will be released per day through Friday. All of them then air consecutively on Saturday beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. The full online schedule includes:
The Rousey feature, titled “Rowdy Ronda Rousey,” discusses the Olympic bronze-medal judoka’s decision to move into professional MMA and her rise in the ranks through Strikeforce and eventually the UFC, where she ushered in the promotion’s first female weight class and defended her UFC title in the organization’s first female fight. It also details her childhood and the rigorous training camps she endures.
