Ronda Rousey will defend her title in a little more than two weeks in a quick turnaround.
Rousey (8-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) puts her women’s bantamweight title on the line at UFC 170 against fellow Olympian Sara McMann (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) in what will be the first fight between two Olympic medal winners in UFC history.
Rousey will be back to work quickly. It’s been just five weeks since she defended her title against arch rival Miesha Tate in the co-main event of UFC 168.
In that fight, Tate did something no one had ever done against Rousey before – she took her past the first round. With nothing but first-round armbar wins on her resume before that, both as an amateur and as a pro, Rousey had to see the stool for the first time against Tate.
Tate even took her past the second and into the third. But finally, Rousey was able to sink in her signature.
How will McMann fare against the “Rowdy” one later this month in the UFC 170 main event at Mandalay Bay Events Center Las Vegas? Time will tell.
But until then, check out the full fight at UFC 168 between Rousey and Tate. Then don’t miss UFC 170 coverage in two weeks here at MMAjunkie.
