Video: UFC 170's Erik Koch on quick win, 'white-boy swagger,' cutting from 210 pounds

LAS VEGAS – After a remarkably easy weight cut provided his first stress-free weigh-in in years, Erik Koch‘s next week task was easy: give the fans want they wanted.

Koch (14-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC), who moved up to lightweight after a rough two-fight skid at featherweight, met Rafaello Oliveira (15-7 MMA, 2-6 UFC) in a UFC Fight Pass-streamed preliminary-card bout at Saturday’s UFC 170 event in Las Vegas.

Koch dropped Oliveira with a left and, obliging the crowd, quickly unloaded a barrage of follow-up punches. Although he was hesitant to become overaggressive and get pulled into Oliveira’s guard, he heard the cageside fans and wanted to deliver.

“I decided to go for the gusto,” he said. “I was hearing the fans, and they wanted blood. I had to go in for the kill.”

Check out the above video as Koch discusses the quick stoppage, his weight cut from 210 pounds, his “white-boy swagger,” teammate Anthony Pettis and his plan to fight four times this year.
