Video: Robbie Lawler explains why his strategy failed in recent UFC title fight

LAS VEGAS – Although Robbie Lawler is disappointed he failed to defeat Johny Hendricks and win the UFC welterweight title this past month, he said there’s a simple reason he has no regrets.

“Regrets are something you have when you can’t change, when you can’t change things,” he told MMAjunkie on Tuesday. “I have the opportunity to get better as a fighter, so there’s no reason to regret anything.”

Lawler (22-10 MMA, 7-4 UFC), with a quick turnaround, hopes to get back on track in UFC 173's co-headliner, where he meets Jake Ellenberger (29-7 MMA, 8-3 UFC) in a fight with obvious 170-pound title stakes. The pay-per-view event takes place May 24 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Check out the above video as Lawler discusses the reason for the Hendricks loss, his expectations for UFC 173, and how he plans to improve for his next shot at the belt.
