Video: Josh Grispi, wife Kaitlyn, discuss domestic abuse on Thursday's 'Dr. Phil'

Former UFC and WEC fighter Josh Grispi and his wife, Kaitlyn, are set to speak on the domestic abuse allegations that have plagued them both in recent months during a Thursday appearance on “Dr. Phil.”

According to an announcement from CBS officials:

‘Dr. Phil’ profiles the story of former professional UFC fighter Josh Grispi and the allegations he physically abused his wife Kaitlyn. He made headlines after being arrested this summer for allegedly assaulting her on two separate occasions over one weekend. Josh is currently out on bail awaiting trial on multiple charges stemming from the incidents, but Kaitlyn says she has no plans to divorce him. She insists Josh, with whom she has two kids, doesn’t belong in jail and blames her mother, Karen, for ‘meddling’ and contacting police. In a ‘Dr. Phil’ exclusive, Josh speaks out for the first time.

MMAjunkie has confirmed that Grispi, who is still currently in jail, joins the show by phone.

Earlier this year, Grispi was arrested on a variety of charges (including weapons, animal cruelty and drug charges) after a neighbor called 911 when Kaitlyn Grispi showed up at her doorstep in her underwear, terrified that her husband would find her, according to the Taunton Gazette. She was bleeding from the leg and had scratches on her body from the alleged dog attack. She also suffered a concussion and spent a night in the hospital.

Police showed up four days earlier after Kaitlyn Grispi’s mother showed them pictures of her bruised and bloodied, the Gazette reported. They arrested Josh Grispi and convinced her to file an emergency restraining order. While in the house, they also found several unsecured firearms in close proximity to the Grispi’s 1-year-old daughter.

Kaitlyn Grispi allowed the restraining order to lapse, believing her husband would get better. One week later, still recovering from her injuries, she ventured that concussions may have made her husband aggressive while declaring she had no desire to seek a divorce.

Hosted by psychologist and television personality Dr. Phil McGraw, “Dr. Phil” was launched in 2002 after McGraw was featured multiple times on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”

“Dr. Phil” was created by Harpo Productions and is distributed by CBS Television Distribution.
