UFC on Versus 4 Play-by-Play: Nate Marquardt vs. Rick Story

Round 1: Story gets a quick takedown, but Brenneman scrambles back to his feet. Brenneman pushes forward after they separate, but Story reverses and gets him against the cage. Brenneman snatches a takedown this time, but it’s Story who recovers quickly. Brenneman shoots in again and gets Story down, landing in his half guard. Story able to buck and get back to full guard, as Brenneman looks for shots to the body. Story holding on looking for a stand up, but Brenneman staying busy.

Round 2: Brenneman ducks under a punch and gets another takedown. Story looking for a guillotine, he doesn’t get it but he’s able to get back to his feet after the release. Story leaps forward with a knee and then presses Brenneman against the cage. After they back out, Brenneman again pushes forward and snatches a takedown. Brenneman working inside of Story’s guard. Story looking for the guillotine again, Brenneman passes to side control. Brenneman gets out and finishes the round inside of Story’s guard.

Round 3: Story ultra aggressive to start the round, knowing he’s likely down two rounds. Brenneman survives the storm, and gets the fight back to the mat. Story working for a kimura from the bottom, then looking for an armbar. The referee stands the fighters up. Story clips Brenneman with a good shot, and after a scramble Brenneman gets the fight down again, but Story works for an inverted triangle. Brenneman slips out, but Story keeps on him working from the top now and then gets mount. Story lifting up and slamming Brenneman’s head to the mat as he holds on. Brenneman somehow gets out and ends up on top with Story again looking for a kimura from the bottom.
