UFC on Fox Sports 1 Update: Paulo Thiago, Kelvin Gastelum Paired for Aug. 28 in Indianapolis

After winning the 17th season of “The Ultimate Fighter” as a middleweight, Kelvin Gastelum will cut down to 170 pounds for his sophomore UFC appearance.

The undefeated prospect is set to take on Paulo Thiago on Aug. 28, Gastelum announced Tuesday via Twitter following a report from Brazilian outlet Globo. The bout will go down on the UFC’s second Fox Sports 1 card, which takes place at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

In addition to the Gastelum-Thiago booking, the show will be headlined by a welterweight rematch pitting Carlos Condit against Martin Kampmann.

Gastelum upset the bookmakers in his official UFC debut, toppling the dangerous Uriah Hall on April 13 at the “TUF 17” finale. The victory marked the sixth straight pro victory for the stocky middleweight, who also bested Robert McDaniel, Collin Hart and Josh Samman during his “TUF 17” run to advance to the live finale.

Thiago enters the cage coming off his first victory in nearly two years, as the Brazilian outpointed Michel Richard dos Prazeres on May 18 to snap a two-fight skid. Prior to that triumph, the 32-year-old was brutally knocked out by Siyar Bahadurzada and outpointed by Dong Hyun Kim to close out a winless 2012.
