Joseph Benavidez vs. Yasuhiro Urushitani

Round 1: Ok, this is old hat now. Flyweight semi-final #2.

Urushitani immediately tries to establish his jab, while Benavidez is chopping at his legs with kicks. Benavidez is pressing Urushitani around the Octagon, starting to mix his punches in with his kicks, keeping Urushitani on the backpedal. He presses Urushitani to the fence and peppers his legs with knees, then arm drags him to the mat, but they’re right back up. Benavidez puts his head down, throws punches, and again bulls Urushitani into the fence, trying to score a single-leg takedown. Benavidez, with much effort, finally finishes the takedown, landing in Urushitani’s half guard. He lands a couple short elbows before passing to side control. Urushitani briefly regains the half guard, but Benavidez passes to mount and then moves to Urushitani’s back, locking on a body triangle, locking on a rear naked choke. He can’t finish it before the horn, however. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-9 for Benavidez.

Round 2: Benavidez immediately drops Urushitani with a big right hand. He immediately punces and finishes Urushitani with a series of right hands that causes the referee to step in and stop the fight.
