Following Hector Lombard’s positive drug test after his win at UFC 182, the UFC has issued a statement about the fighter.

Lombard (35-4-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) tested positive for desoxymethyltestosterone, a designer steroid, after his win over Josh Burkman at the event on Jan. 3.

Prior to the news being confirmed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission earlier today, Lombard was removed from a scheduled fight with Rory MacDonald at UFC 186 on April 25 in Montreal.

Lombard tested negative for other performance-enhancers and drugs of abuse, according to the Quest Diagnostics report from Jan. 3, obtained by MMAjunkie. His oppponent, Burkman, tested negative for banned substances on fight night. The test results came back on Jan. 13.

“The UFC has been notified by the Nevada State Athletic Commission that UFC welterweight Hector Lombard has tested positive for a banned substance following his fight at ‘UFC 182: Jones vs. Cormier’ on Jan. 3, 2015 in Las Vegas,” the UFC’s statement reads. “The UFC has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents by our athletes. As a result of his positive test, Lombard has been informed that he has violated the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy and Promotional Agreement with Zuffa, LLC. The UFC will cooperate with the commission on the matter and fully supports Lombard’s right to a due process hearing before the commission.”

Lombard faces a suspension, fines and the possible overturning of his win against Burkman. Bennett didn’t immediately respond to an email asking whether his case will be addressed at the NSAC’s next meeting on Feb. 17 in Las Vegas.
