Ferguson Outlasts Dos Anjos in Main Event

No lightweight had ever won nine straight UFC fights until Saturday night as Ferguson defeated Dos Anjos by unanimous decision in a five-round bout.

Ferguson now owns the third-longest active win streak in all of UFC, via the FS1 telecast, and it came in entertaining fashion.

These were two fighters whose aggressive styles restricted them from backing down from the moment the opening bell rang.

It was Dos Anjos who got the first big punch in during the first round, when a left-handed punch snapped Ferguson's head back.

Ferguson, though, came back with an uppercut and a shot right behind Dos Anjos' ear.

The second round supplied even more fireworks as the two just kept throwing haymakers, via UFC:

After Dos Anjos got the third round, Ferguson stormed out and took the final two rounds thanks to relentless attacks that slowed his opponent down, via UFC:

Toward the end of the fourth round, Dos Anjos began to open up with blood coming from his nose and the corner of his right eye.

With a dominant finish, it allowed Ferguson to even spend the waning moments of the match almost taunting Dos Ajos as he danced around the Octagon.

When it went to the judges, they awarded Ferguson the win 48-47, 48-47, 48-47.

What made this bout even more impressive was where it was located. With an elevation of over 7,000 feet above sea level in Mexico City, both fighters went all out for the entire 25 minutes and certainly made the rest of the lightweight class sit up and take notice regardless of result.
