UFC Fight Night 96 weigh-in results: John Lineker, Alex Oliveira, Hacran Dias all miss weight

PORTLAND, Ore. – MMAjunkie was on scene and reporting live from today’s early UFC Fight Night 96 fighter weigh-ins, where three athletes missed their marks for Saturday’s event – including fighters in the main and co-main events.

For the fifth time in his career – a UFC record – headliner John Lineker missed weight. The first four times he was off the mark, however, were as a flyweight. That prompted his move to bantamweight, where he had been three-for-three on the scale – until today.

Lineker waited until the last possible minute in the two-hour weigh-ins window to step on the scale. When he did, with the aid of a towel and no clothing, he was 136.5 pounds, putting him a half-pound over the limit. In the UFC’s new early weigh-ins, there is no allowance given for extra time to make weight.

Lineker’s opponent, John Dodson, himself a former flyweight – and former flyweight title challenger – was on the mark at 135 pounds on the button. Lineker will surrender 20 percent of his show money to Dodson, and the fight will go on at a catchweight.

Alex Oliveira

Alex Oliveira

Co-main event lightweight Alex Oliveira came in at 161.5 pounds for his fight against former Bellator champion Will Brooks, who was on target at 156. Oliveira has fought four of his last five bouts at welterweight, but just three fights ago successfully made the lightweight limit before a win over Piotr Hallman.

Oliveira will be fined 20 percent of his show money, which goes to Brooks. Brooks accepted a catchweight fight with the Brazilian, so the bout goes on as scheduled. But Brooks was none too happy with his opponent’s transgression on the scale.

And in a featherweight bout, Hacran Dias was 148.5 for his fight against Andre Fili on the preliminary card. Fili was 146 and gets 20 percent of Dias’ show money.

UFC officials recently adopted the early weigh-ins to allow fighters more time to rehydrate before the event.

In addition to the official results below, you can watch a live video stream of the ceremonial weigh-ins here on MMAjunkie at 7 p.m. ET.

The early weigh-ins, which preceded this evening’s ceremonial affair, took place in Portland, Ore. The ceremonial weigh-ins take place at 7 p.m. ET at Oregon Convention Center’s Hall C.
