UFC Fight Night 86 bonuses: Derrick Lewis' destruction of Gonzaga worth $50,000

ZAGREB, Croatia – Mairbek Taisumov, Derrick Lewis, Jared Cannonier and Alejandro Perez each earned $50,000 fight-night bonuses today at UFC Fight Night 86.

All four earned “Performance of the Night” awards; no “Fight of the Night” honors were given.

UFC officials announced the winners at the post-fight press conference, which MMAjunkie attended.

Lewis (15-4 MMA, 6-2 UFC) knocked out former heavyweight title challenger Gabriel Gonzaga (17-11 MMA, 12-10 UFC) in the first round of their co-main event. Lewis now has 14 of his 15 career wins by knockout, and all of his victories in the UFC have come courtesy of his heavy hands.

In the second fight of the night, Cannonier (8-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) obliterated UFC newcomer Cyril Asker (7-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) with vicious elbows after dropping him to the canvas with a massive left hand.

Perez (17-6 MMA, 3-1 UFC) was accused by Ian Entwistle (9-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) of greasing his legs early in their fight when Entwistle struggled to hold on during a submission attempt. Maybe Perez didn’t like that much because he wound up pounding on Entwistle until he verbally submitted.

And Taisumov (25-5 MMA, 5-1 UFC) picked up his fourth straight knockout win when he stopped Damir Hadzovic (10-3 MMA, 0-1) in the first round. It was his second straight bonus win.

UFC Fight Night 86 took place at Zagreb Arena in Zagreb, Croatia. The card aired on FOX Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.
