“The Hangman” was a fitting nickname for Dan Hooker at UFC Fight Night 85.
Hooker (13-6 MMA, 3-2 UFC) took advantage of Mark Eddiva (6-3 MMA, 1-3 UFC) leaving his neck open for far too long, locking up a guillotine choke and finishing the fight just 84 seconds into Round 1.
The featherweight bout was part of today’s UFC Fight Night 85 preliminary card at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.
Hooker was impressive in the striking game, as well. He landed hard shots early and forced Eddiva to try for a single-leg takedown. Eddiva played the game too long, however, and Hooker locked up the choke, took the fight to the floor and finished the fight with a mounted guillotine choke.
