UFC Fight Night 77 post-fight facts: Almeida's winning streak hits 20, KO record and more

The UFC’s final stop in Brazil this year was a good one. Eight of 13 fights ended in a stoppage and multiple UFC record were set or tied.

Vitor Belfort (25-11 MMA, 14-7 UFC) scored yet another head kick knockout over Dan Henderson (31-14, 8-8 UFC) to close their trilogy more than nine years after the first meeting took place.

“The Phenom” is all over the UFC record books and the win over Henderson further established his place as a surefire future UFC Hall of Fame inductee.

Belfort, Thomas Almeida, Alex Oliveira and Thiago Tavares earned $50,000 UFC Fight Night 77 fight-night bonuses.

UFC Fight Night 77 drew an announced attendance of 10,628.

Betting favorites went 10-3 on the card.

Main card

Belfort improved to 8-2 since he dropped to the middleweight division in September 2007. Both of his losses in the weight class have been in UFC title bouts.

Henderson fell to 1-2 since he returned to the UFC middleweight division in January. Overall, he’s 3-3 in the UFC at 185 pounds.

Henderson is just 2-6 in his past eight UFC appearances.

Henderson suffered just the third knockout loss of his career. All three of those finishes have come within his past six fights.

Henderson has suffered 15 knockdowns in UFC/PRIDE/Strikeforce/WEC competition, the most in the combined history of the four organizations.

Glover Teixeira (24-4 MMA, 7-2 UFC) has earned six of his seven UFC victories by stoppage.

Patrick Cummins (8-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) has suffered all three of his career losses by knockout.

Gleison Tibau (34-11 MMA, 17-9 UFC) competed in his 26th UFC bout, the most of any lightweight in UFC history and tied for second most overall in UFC history behind Tito Ortiz (27).

Tibau’s 17 UFC lightweight victories are the most in divisional history.

Tibau’s 17 UFC victories are tied with Michael Bisping for third most in UFC history behind Georges St-Pierre (19) and Matt Hughes (18).

Tibau’s 17 UFC victories are tied with Bisping for most in UFC history without competing in a title fight.

Tibau has landed 84 takedowns in UFC competition, the most in lightweight history and second most overall in UFC history behind St-Pierre (87).

Tibau earned his first UFC stoppage victory since May 2013.

Abel Trujillo (12-7 MMA, 3-3 UFC) has suffered both of his UFC stoppage losses by submission.

Johnny Case (22-4 MMA, 4-0 UFC) extended his career high winning streak to 12 fights. He hasn’t suffered a defeat since October 2010.

Yan Cabral (12-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) fell to 1-1 since he dropped to the UFC lightweight division in October 2014.

Cabral has suffered both of his career losses by decision.

Thiago Tavares (20-6-1 MMA, 10-6-1 UFC) improved to 4-1 in the UFC when fighting in his native Brazil.

Tavares improved to 2-1 since he dropped to the UFC featherweight division in August 2014.

Tavares has earned both of his UFC featherweight victories by submission.

Tavares’ 39-second submission victory marked the third fastest submission in UFC/WEC featherweight history.

Clay Guida (32-16 MMA, 12-10 UFC) has alternated wins and losses over his past seven UFC appearances.

Guida fell to 3-3 since he dropped to the UFC featherweight division in January 2013.

Guida became the eighth fighter in UFC history to earn at least 10 victories and suffer 10 losses.
