Headliner Mauricio Rua and Michel Prazeres led the list of medical suspensions arising from Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 38.
MMAjunkie today requested and received the list of suspended fighters from the Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA), which oversaw the event at Ginasio Nelio Dias in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.
UFC Fight Night 38 aired on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Headliner “Shogun” Rua needs to present a clear CT scan in order to receive clearance to fight following his third-round TKO loss to Dan Henderson. Rua’s manager, Eduardo Alonso, said the fighter will soon undergo surgery to repair damage from a broken nose.
Henderson also received a 45-day suspension for the fight, which saw him sustain multiple knockdowns in the first and second rounds.
Prazeres, who earned a dominant decision over Mairbek Taisumov, could potentially have an injured right hand and needs an X-ray from an orthopedic doctor before he is cleared to fight.
Seven fighters from the card received a minimum suspension of 14 days with seven days no contact, while the remaining 15 received longer terms.
