UFC Fight Night 102 attendance dips slightly from promotion's New York debut

ALBANY, N.Y. – Friday night’s UFC Fight Night 102 event drew an announced attendance of 6,216 and a live gate of $411,000

UFC officials announced the figures following the event, which MMAjunkie attended.

While the number of complimentary tickets distributed was not revealed, the figures mark an average revenue of $66.12 per ticket issued.

UFC Fight Night 102 took place Friday at Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y. The entire card streamed on UFC Fight Pass. Heavyweights Derrick Lewis (17-4 MMA, 8-2 UFC) and Shamil Abdurakhimov (17-4 MMA, 2-2 UFC) fought in the main event, with “The Black Beast” scoring a fourth-round finish after battling through a painfully slow start.

The event was the UFC’s second in the state of New York after legislation passed to legalize MMA earlier this year. In November, the promotion held an event at Madison Square Garden in New York City for the first time in its history. That event drew an incredible 20,427 fans and a record-breaking $17.7 million gate. Of course, it was also one of the year’s most-anticipated pay-per-view events and featured three title fights on the evening’s main card.

UFC Fight Night 102, in the state’s capital city, was the second for the UFC in New York in less than a month.
