The 11-bout lineup is set for this month’s “UFC 172: Jones vs. Teixeira” event, and it includes a late addition to the card.
UFC officials recently announced the addition of a bantamweight matchup between newcomers Chris Beal (8-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Patrick Williams (7-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) while also announcing the full broadcast plans for the evening’s lineup.
Featuring a light-heavyweight title fight between current UFC champ Jon Jones and top contender Glover Teixeira, UFC 172 takes place at April 26 at Baltimore Arena in Maryland.In addition to the pay-per-view main card, FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass carry the night’s preliminary card.
Beal, a BAMMA USA vet who turned pro in 2009, recently returned from an 18-month layoff and earned a TKO victory over Keith Carson. The 28-year-old Californian now has two knockouts and six decisions in eight career wins. Patrick, meanwhile, is a veteran of the Florida fight scene and has fought for organizations such as XFC and CFA. The 32-year-old has won four of his past fights, including a recent TKO of WEC/IFL vet Rafael Dias.
In some of the event’s key bout positions, flyweights Joseph Benavidez (19-4 MMA, 6-2 UFC) and Timothy Elliott (10-4-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC) close out the FOX Sports 1 preliminary card, and high-energy featherweight prospects Andre Fili (13-1 MMA, 1-0) UFC and Max Holloway (8-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) kick off the PPV main card.
