NEWARK, N.J. – It wasn’t exactly a “Fight of the Night” contender, but middleweight Nick Catone (10-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) picked up his first UFC win in nearly three years with a hard-fought decision victory over Tom Watson (16-7 MMA, 1-3 UFC) at UFC 169.
Their bout, which was part of the FOX Sports 1-televised preliminary card from Newark, N.J.’s Prudential Center, was a sometimes-plodding affair, but Catone’s takedowns proved the difference-maker.
