Lyoto Machida vs. Phil Davis

Round 1: Machida takes the center of the cage and inches forward.  Davis delivers a front kick to the body.  Both paw with their jabs and exchange leg kicks.  Machida drops his hands.  He lands an inside leg kick.  Davis circles on the outside.  Davis misses with a superman punch.  Machida presses forward.  He glances a left high kick off Davis’ head.  Davis leaps in with a right hand.  Machida answers with a straight left.  Davis thorws a high kick that’s blocked.  Machida explodes with a combination followed by a flying knee.  Machida steps in with a left hand and Davis ducks under and takes the fight to the ground.  Davis works in Machida’s half guard.  Davis lands punches to the body.  The round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Machida.

Round 2: Davis comes out in the second round throwing his jab.  Davis moves on the outside.  Machida delivers a hard outside leg kick.  He fires off a high kick that’s blocked.  Machida delivers a kick to the body.  Davis jumps in with a superman punch that misses.  They clinch and Machida pushes Davis away.  Machida lands a left hand.  Davis lands a right hand.  Machida lands an inside leg kick.  Davis looks for a takedown but Machida defends the attempt.  Davis quickly goes for another takedown but Machida stuffs it.  Machida lands a straight left hand.  Machida lands a big right hand.  Davis closes the distance and secures a takedown.  He lands knees to the body.  Davis lands right hands.  The round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Machida.

Round 3: Davis’ corner tells him to pick up the pace.  Machida lands a right hand as Davis threw a leg kick.  Davis pressing forward now.  Machida goes to the body with a kick.  Davis moves forward and eats a left hand. Machida lands a knee to the body as Davis moved in.  He gets Davis to the ground.  Davis stands but Machida stays on him.  Davis separates Machida’s hands and pushes him away.  Machida is chasing Davis.  he lands a left hand.  Machida steps in with a knee and stuffs a takedown attempt from Davis.  Machida catches Davis with a right hand.  Davis leaps in with a superman punch and clinches.  Machida lands a knee to the body and stuffs another takedown attempt by Davis.  The round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Machida.

The judges scored the fight for Davis by unanimous decision.  All three scorecards read 29-28.
