UFC 106 Payouts: Forrest, Tito Earn $250,000 Each

They may have disagreed on the split decision, but Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin walked away with equal purses at UFC 106 last Saturday in Las Vegas, according to documents released Monday by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The light heavyweights earned $250,000 each (disclosed pay only) for their back-and-forth, three-round bout that Griffin won via split decision. Ortiz won the first encounter, also a split decision, in this inevitable trilogy at UFC 59 in April 2006.

Josh Koscheck was another big winner in more ways than one. The American Kickboxing Academy welterweight took home $246,000 for his second-round submission against Anthony Johnson, which included two performance bonuses distributed by the promotion. Koscheck also utilized his platform Saturday to campaign for a rematch with champion St. Pierre, boosting fan awareness in the process. Johnson earned $87,000 in defeat.

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira’s Octagon debut earned him $170,000, which included the evening’s knockout bonus for his tidy first-round handling of Luis Arthur Cane. Cane took home $19,000.
