Tickets go on sale this week for April’s UFC Fight Night 63 event Virginia, featuring a headlining matchup between top featherweight contenders Chad Mendes (16-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) and Ricardo Lamas (15-3 MMA, 6-1 UFC).
UFC Fight Night 63 takes place April 4 at Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va. The main card airs on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
In the main event, former 145-pound title challengers Mendes and Lamas look to keep themselves in title contention with a victory over a top-ranked opponent. Mendes is currently ranked No. 2 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA featherweight rankings, while Lamas checks in at No. 3.
Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com and range in price from $54 plus fees to get in the door to $179 plus fees for cageside seats. After fees, the tickets come out to $63.05 in the cheap seats and $198 on the floor.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m. ET. However, UFC Fight Club members can purchase tickets Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m. ET, and UFC.com e-newsletter subscribers can buy their seats Thursday, Feb. 12, at 10 a.m. ET.
Mendes gave current champ Jose Aldo arguably the most competitive fight of his title reign at UFC 179 in October when he pushed “Scarface” for five rounds in MMAjunkie’s 2014 “Fight of the Year.”
It was his second failed title bid against Aldo, but given the entertaining nature of the second contest, another title shot is certainly within reach.
He’ll have to go through Lamas to get it, though, and “The Bully” is in the hunt his own second opportunity at the title. He lost a lopsided decision to Aldo at UFC 169 in February 2014, but has rebounded with strong performances against Dennis Bermudez and Hacran Dias.
