The guy who won $2.5 million on Royals just won a quarter million on Holly Holm

Remember the guy who won $2.5 million with a World Series bet on the Royals? Remember when most folks called him crazy when he said he was going to bet big on Holly Holm?

Well, he just added nearly a quarter-million dollars to his ledger.

Earlier this week, sports bettor “Vegas” Dave Oancea joined MMAjunkie Radio to discuss his big World Series win – and why he was picking heavy underdog Holm.

In Saturday’s UFC 193 pay-per-view headliner at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, Holm (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) dethroned longtime women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) via second-round knockout from a head kick and punches. It was a remarkable performance, especially considering how few fans and analysts expected her to pull off the upset.

Holm closed as an 8-1 favorite, but Oancea pounced early and locked in 12-1 odds. Following UFC 193, he posted a screenshot of his $20,000 bet – and $240,000 win (via Twitter):

While you might think Oancea saw something in the fight footage or knew the former pro boxer’s striking skills would be too much for the now-ex-champ, he actually confessed he was betting against Rousey as much as he was betting on Holm.

“I’ll put $10,000 on that for fun,” Oancea, who apparently bet $20,000 instead of the intended $10,000, told MMAjunkie Radio. “I’ll put $10,000 on her every time against her and just keep doubling up, because eventually she’s going to lose – that’s my philosophy. It just takes one lucky punch. I’ll put $10,000 on her if they let me do it. I’ve got balls.”

One lucky punch? Turns it was a lot of expert punches – and one big head kick.
