A women’s bantamweight fight between onetime title challengers Alexis Davis (17-6 MMA, 4-1 UFC) and Sara McMann (9-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) is headed to The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale.
ESPN first reported the bout, with UFC officials subsequently confirming the news to MMAjunkie.
The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale takes place Dec. 3 at The Pearl at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The event’s main card airs live on FS1 following prelims on UFC Fight Pass.
McMann, the No. 10 ranked fighter in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA women’s bantamweight rankings, returns to the cage after a unanimous decision over Jessica Eye in May at UFC Fight Night 88, which snapped a 1-2 slump in the wake of a failed effort to capture the title against now-former champ Ronda Rousey in 2014.
No. 8 Davis, meanwhile, gets back to full-time fighting after taking a year off to give birth to a son. She was last seen in the octagon in April 2015 at UFC 186, where she picked up a second-round armbar win over Sarah Kaufman. The victory put her back on solid ground after a blowout 16-second loss to Rousey at UFC 175 in 2014.
The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale is headlined by a flyweight title bout between champ Demetrious Johnson and the winner of the reality show’s 24th season, which features 16 regional MMA champs vying for the next shot at the title.
With the addition to the card, The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale now includes:
