Some familiar names and big-show vets will be part of the cast for “The Ultimate Fighter 19.”
UFC officials today announced the list of middleweight and light-heavyweight competitors who will compete in the long-running reality show’s latest tournaments.
The show, which debuts April 16 on FOX Sports 1, features former champions Frankie Edgar (16-4-1 MMA, 10-4-1 UFC) and B.J. Penn (16-9-2 MMA, 12-5-1 UFC) as head coaches. They meet in a season-ending bout on July 6 at The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale, where two show champions will also be crowned.
The competitors, who are likely to compete in an elimination round of fights to determine official cast members, range in age from 24 to 33. They have as little as three pro fights and as many 24. Additionally, they come from all over the U.S, as well as Ireland and Canada.
Some of the notables include former Cage Warriors champ Cathal Pendred, inaugural Bellator titleholder Lyman Good, MFC/XFC vet Dhiego Lima and current “TUF Nations: Canada vs. Australia” competitor Nordine Taleb.
UFC officials announced 31 of the 32 competitors. The final one is expected to be revealed during the season debut.
