Two days later, it has been confirmed: That really happened.
T.J. Dillashaw (10-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) really did beat Renan Barao (32-2 MMA, 7-1 UFC), and he really did beat him up that badly.
Dillashaw took it to the bantamweight champion early in UFC 173's main event. Then he kept his foot on the gas pedal the whole way until he finally got a TKO stoppage in the fifth round.
With Dillashaw as much as a 10-to-1 underdog, the upset was one of the biggest in MMA history.
Now you can take a look back at the main event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas through the lens of USA TODAY Sports photographer Stephen R. Sylvanie.
