Following the regular-season finale of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2,” the show’s tournament final is set, and Saturday’s UFC on FUEL TV 10 lineup is now complete with 13 bouts.
In Sunday’s final episode, welterweights Leo Santos (11-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and William Macario (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) emerged as finalists and now headline this weekend’s UFC on FUEL TV 10 event.
The event takes place at Ginasio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazi. The main card airs on FUEL TV following prelims on Facebook. “TUF: Brazil 2? coaches Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum meet in the heavyweight headliner.
Both tourney finalist were part of Team Nogueira with Santos the No. 4 pick and Macario the No. 6 pick (out of seven).
It’s worth noting that the finalists are the only fighters from the “TUF: Brazil 2? cast who will compete at the show’s unofficial live finale.
Santos, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt (and brother of WEC/Bellator vet Wagnney Fabiano), defeated Pedro Irie and Thiago Santos, but he then suffered a decision loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio in the semifinal round of the show, which featured exhibition bouts. However, when Ponzinibbio broke his hand, Santos got his spot. The 33-year-old Nova Uniao fighter has won five straight pro bouts and 10 of his past 11. Most recently, he submitted former UFC fighter Mark Holst at Cage Warriors Fight Night 7 in September.
Macario, meanwhile, made it to the finals with a decision win over Thiago Santos and knockout victories over Tiago Alves and Viscardi Andrade. In pro competition, the 21-year-old and three-year pro owns six stoppages in six career wins, five of which have come in the first round.
