Strikeforce Challengers 16 TV Ratings In-Line with Series’ Average

Strikeforce Challengers LogoThis past weekend marked a full slate of mixed martial arts on non-pay-per-view television.

Strikeforce Challengers 16 kicked off the weekend’s action on Showtime. The event, emanating from Kent, Wash., drew an average audience of 210,000 viewers, according to MMAWeekly.com‘s industry sources.

That number is slightly below the series’ TV ratings average of 220,000 viewers per show, but not far off. Challengers has been a fairly steady draw for Showtime, peaking at 316,000 viewers for Strikeforce Challengers 7 – which was on one of Showtime’s “free-view” weekends – and bottoming out with Strikeforce Challengers 11 pulling in 178,000 viewers.

Strikeforce Challengers 16 featured a strong fight card headlined by Caros Fodor defeating fellow up-and-comer James Terry. Matt Ricehouse and Lorenz Larkin, two other stars in the making for Strikeforce, both kept their records unblemished. Ricehouse bested Ryan Couture, son of UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, while Larkin outpointed Gian Villante.
