Source: Ohio to Host Bellator 51 on Sept. 24

Bellator Fighting Championships will likely return to Ohio on Sept. 24, as all signs point to the city of Canton as the host of Bellator 51.

While not yet official, Sherdog.com confirmed the rumored destination with a source close to the situation on Tuesday. The Canton Memorial Civic Center will likely play host to the event, which features the opening round of Bellator's upcoming bantamweight tournament.

Airing live on MTV2, Bellator 51 will feature four quarterfinal 135-pound matchups, as Joe Warren, Ed West, Joe Soto and Chase Beebe will square off with Alexis Vila, Luis Alberto Nogueira, Eduardo Dantas and Marcos Galvao, respectively. The tournament winner will earn $100,000 in total pay and a shot at reigning bantamweight champion Zach Makovsky.

Bellator 51 will mark the Chicago-based promotion's second trip to the state of Ohio. Bellator previously visited the Buckeye State in its first season, as Dayton played host to Bellator 5.

The city of Canton is likely most famous as the site of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Opened in 1951, the Canton Memorial Civic Center holds a maximum of 5,200 spectators and will house the Cleveland Cavaliers' NBA Developmental League affiliate this fall.
