Ronda Rousey discusses breaking Miesha Tate, why she snubbed UFC 168 handshake

Ronda Rousey put (at least temporarily) an end to her rivalry with Miesha Tate at UFC 168, and the UFC women’s bantamweight champion took some time to look back on the fight.

In the Dec. 28 pay-per-view co-headliner, Rousey defended her title and posted a second victory over Tate, her rival coach on “The Ultimate Fighter 18,” with a third-round armbar.

According to Rousey, who went past the first round for the first time in her career, she knew Tate was vulnerable to a finish in the third round.

“The point where I felt like she was really ‘broken,’ if you put it that way, was in the third round right in the beginning,” she said. “I caught her with a right hand, and she was like out on her feet, and that’s how she like staggered back to the wall. And when I was leaning on her there, the way I heard her breathing, I knew a submission would be very easy right then, and a takedown would be very easy.”
