RFA 2 Weigh-in Results: Alexander, Yvel Cleared for Main Event; Live Stream Friday on Sherdog.com

UFC veterans Gilbert Yvel and Houston Alexander will square off as planned in the Resurrection Fighting Alliance 2 headliner. Both competitors were cleared at Thursday’s official weigh-ins, tipping the scales at 206 and 203 pounds, respectively.

RFA 2 takes place Friday at the Viaero Event Center in Kearney, Neb., and streams live on Sherdog.com at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. In addition to the evening’s headliner, the event will showcase several notable names, including “The Ultimate Fighter 15” contestant Dakota Cochrane (156), who squares off with Cliff Wright (155) in a lightweight affair.

Also featured will be former UFC heavyweight champion Maurice Smith (206), who makes his return to competition after nearly four years on the shelf to take on Jorge Cordoba (202). Additionally, one of the world’s most highly regarded female competitors will see action on Friday night, as Tara LaRosa (129) locks horns with Kelly Warren (128).

After going winless in his three-fight UFC stint in 2010, Yvel rebounded with a victory over Damian Dantibo at RFA 1 this past December. Known for his hard-hitting standup style, “The Hurricane” owns 31 of his 37 victories by knockout and has never won a fight by decision. A 15-year pro, the Dutchman holds notable wins over Bob Schrijber, Tsuyoshi Kosaka, Gary Goodridge and Cheick Kongo, among others.

Also known as a knockout specialist, Alexander fought six times for the UFC from 2007 to 2009. Prior to his most recent outing, “The Assassin” had notched four straight wins, closing out 2010 with victories over David Griffin and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou before knocking out Brian Albin and Razak Al-Hassan to kick of 2011. Alexander’s last outing ended in defeat, however, as he was knocked out by Steve Bosse with a second-round elbow this past October.
