It was true when the sport first started to flourish, and it’s equally true now: Being an MMA fighter can be a tough way to make a living.

On Saturday “The Ultimate Fighter 18? veteran Peggy Morgan fought at Invicta FC 8. Despite a noble effort in her UFC Fight Pass-streamed bout, Morgan (2-2) proved no match for Mexican bantamweight prospect Irene Aldana (4-1). She survived one flurry, but when Aldana followed with another, Morgan crashed to the mat and ultimately tapped out from a first-round rear-naked choke.

Following the fight, Morgan posted a photo (via Twitter):

Perhaps amazingly, the day-after photo might have been an upgrade from the day-of photo. Immediately after the fight, Morgan was sporting a massive hematoma under her right eye:

Morgan opened her career with a 2-0 mark and then joined “The Ultimate Fighter 18.” She knocked out Bethany Marshall to earn a spot on the cast, but she subsequently suffered a submission loss to Sarah Moras and was eliminated from the tournament.

Following a decision defeat to Jessamyn Duke on the undercard of the TUF 18 Finale, Morgan signed with Invicta FC.
