With the participants previously announced, Cage Warriors has now released its opening-round pairings for the organization’s upcoming single-night four-man lightweight championship tournament.
The tourney is part of Cage Warriors 60, which takes place Oct. 5 at The Forum in London. The main card, which includes the tourney final, streams live in North American on MMAjunkie.com following Facebook prelims, which feature the opening round/semifinals.
The tourney pairings include Slovakia’s Ivan Buchinger (23-4) vs. England’s Mick Sinclair (12-3) and Scotland’s Stevie Ray (12-4) vs. England’s Jason Ball (20-12).
Both semifinal-round bouts will consist of two five-minute rounds (and an additional overtime round if the bout is tied). Five five-minute rounds will be scheduled for the tourney final. Therefore, fighters could compete up to eight rounds (40 minutes) in a single night.
The winner gets the organization’s lightweight title, which Conor McGregor vacated after signing with the UFC.
Also slated for the card is a tourney reserve bout between Sean Carter (6-0) and Richard Griffin (5-9). Additionally, muay Thai champion Amanda Kelly (0-0) makes her pro MMA debut against bantamweight Hannah Stephens (2-1).
