Mitch Gagnon vs. Alex Caceres joins UFC Fight Night 33 in Australia

alex-caceres-9.jpgAn intriguing bantamweight bout is headed down under as Mitch Gagnon (10-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) and Alex Caceres (9-5 MMA, 4-3 UFC) have agreed to fight in December.

The bout takes place at UFC Fight Night 33, which is slated for Dec. 6 at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Broadcast plans haven’t been announced for the event, which takes place Saturday in Australia but airs Friday in the U.S. due to the time difference.

UFC officials today announced the bout.

Since a UFC-debut loss to Bryan Caraway (one that earned him a “Fight of the Night” bonus), Gagnon has posted back-to-back submission wins over Walel Watson and Dustin Kimura. The most recent one earned the 28-year-old Canadian a “Submission of the Night” bonus.

Caceres, meanwhile, opened his UFC career with a 1-3 mark after his appearance on “The Ultimate Fighter 12.” However, since then, the 25-year-old Floridian has won four consecutive bouts (though one was overturned due to a failed drug test). Most recently, he earned a split-decision victory over Roland Delorme, though nearly every major media outlet scored the bout for Caceres.
