Miesha Tate has received the honor of waving the green flag during a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway on Oct. 26.

Nascar officials announced the move Wednesday. The cars will take the track for the Goody's Headache Relief Shot 500 at 1:30 P.M. ET and fans can catch Tate’s green flag drop on ESPN.

Tate, who most recently defeated Rin Nakai via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night “Hunt vs. Nelson” is reveling at the opportunity.

"I have had the opportunity to do a lot of cool things in my life, but attending my first race and dropping the green flag might be one of the coolest things I have ever done," Tate told NASCAR.com. "I think we're both top-tier athletes, both UFC fighters and NASCAR drivers. We all work really hard to be where we're at. The fans are similar in that they enjoy the excitement each sport offers and that's why they watch and partake in them. I think that fans of NASCAR would naturally gravitate to the UFC, and vice versa, if we could just bridge that gap a bit better between both worlds."

The former Strikeforce champion is not the first UFC fighter to be involved with NASCAR recently, as Chuck Liddell was chosen to drive the pace car at a race on Nov. 8.
